Not sure about this, but I think Peru is one of those countries where if you’re in prison, your food comes from your family. Anybody know this for sure one way or the other?

Yes, navyblue. They will give you one bowl of dirty rice per day prepared in an unsanitary kitchen. Any other food must be purchased from outside of the prison with money from outside of the prison. Rent for your cell must be paid to the “daddy” (the most powerful prisoner) of any given cell block or building. Your bed must be purchased the same way. Essentially, if you do not have family or loved ones supporting you from outside, you are in for a very bad time.

I saw this information in an episode of Locked Up Abroad-Peru, as well as reading a British Embassy pamphlet regarding brits being arrested in Peru that was posted on here a few days ago.

Well, some people seem to do fairly well in prison in Peru ...
