LIMA, Peru - A high-ranking Peruvian government official confirmed to NBC News Monday night that Joran van der Sloot confessed to the slaying of a 21-year-old Lima woman.
According to La Republica newspaper, he said that his anger exploded and he broke Stephany Flores' neck after she grabbed his laptop without his permission, and found out that he was involved in the disappearance of an American woman.

He will earn his food with his mouth and butt.
I can’t quit smiling when I think of this animals future. Those poor girls.
I don’t think that he will lasy long enough to serve an assault and battery charge. It is easy to get HIV in prison and it works fast.
May fate be poetic for him.
If he took $2000 from the victim he could get life.
It seems he may have told Chileans he took the money because he was broke.
Machine translation here:
Interestingly, from the same article, the laptop may have videos and pictures that will help solve the Natalie Holloway case.

Well, that's an interesting "commentary" on their system of justice ... LOL ... Kill a person and maybe 10 years ... but take $2,000 and get "life" ... :-)

I'm sure the authorities will search it, but I would think that one wouldn't be carrying around something like that -- especially since it's obvious that he didn't have any encrption or password protection on it. If he did have password and/or encryption, then he wouldn't have cared if the Peruvian girl got on the computer.
The way it sounds to me is that he was more concerned that it was "known" that he was the main suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, by the information that was on the computer -- rather than -- some incriminating photos or videos.
I can't say that for sure, but that's just "my take" on what I read. I'm sure we will find out later what is actually on that computer, as the authorities "do something" about it, once they look over the computer.
Murder + robbery = life (maybe).
Murder + rape = 35 years
Crime of passion murder = 6 - 20 years.
From what I've been reading, the Peru authorities are backing off on the Stephany Flores looking at Van Der Sloots computer angle, in the sense that they are not confirming that, only that he confessed, in the presence of an attorney.
I get the feeling as well there will be stories appearing of online accesses to Stephany Flores bank account, etc. I thought I read that the father said her account was accessed during the time frame, but I can't find it again to provide a link, sorry.
Obviously there are more details to come out. I’m sure that there is much that we don’t know about. At this point it’s only a “hypothetical” discussion here as we can’t know all the details... yet.
Oh... and thanks for the clarification on those crimes and sentences ... :-)
