I am a huge fan too and have been since the early 80s. I have enjoyed Frank Black's music as well through his various incarnations. The Pixies are technically a local Boston band but have a worldwide following, and I can attest that they are capable of drawing that size crowd probably anywhere in the world. They certainly can in Chicago.

Without knowing why they are withdrawing in this case, I would say that it seems unlikely that if they are truly anti-semetic that they would have scheduled the concert in the first place.

I am also a huge Pixies fan.

For those of you who don’t know who the Pixies are, they are one of the more under-rated but highly influencial alt bands. They are the pioneers of the LOUD-quiet-LOUD sound that made bands like Nirvana huge.

I can understand why perhaps some of the older members wouldn’t recognize them, but they really are a great band. Frank Black (aka Black Francis) went on to have a great solo career, and Kim Deal (the bass player) founded the Amps and the Breeders.

I would strongly agree that they would not be anti-semetic if they offered to play the gig in the first place. Great band, and great “people” from what I’ve read about them.
