The first album I bought with my own money was Steppenwolf 2 and then Led Zep 1.
I was a head from 1970 until 1978 and scoped all the albums in that period so my views of SD stand.
They were a lazy semi-talented group dependent on the stoner status of their fans and nothing more.
They were not Yes,Black Sabbath or even Grand Funk Railroad for God's sakes and you believe them relevant to the Rock Pantheon?
Too easy to please,please!

Sheeesh, semi-talented? Your knowledge of SD's musical talent must be a continuing affect from your stoner daze. LOL!
Yes was progressive rock...and BS & GF were 2-bit mush rock at best.
SD was heavily jazz influenced that cumulated on "Aja". But even as early as "Katy Lied", their jazz-inspired tracks and jazz musicians (i.e. Phil Woods) were clearly evident.
Put down the crack pipe and walk way from this thread before you embarrass yourself even more! LOL - what a maroon!

“Dirty Work” was a fantastic Steely Dan song.
