Here’s another one...hire a shyster lawyer and claim some sort of “disability.” The Social Security Administration will reject your initial claim (and probably the second one as well), but if you stick with it, the judge will approve your claim on the third or fourth try. And, in most cases, they backdate the award to the date of your initial filing. So, you’ll start off with “back” benefits of three or four years.
To be fair, there are many who are genuinely handicapped and rely on SSI to survive. But there are plenty of fakers, malingerers and utter frauds who collect benefits for years. I know a guy in Mississippi, early 30s, who draws more than $700 a month for an “anxiety” disorder. He still finds a way to work another job—paid in cash—so he can milk the system for other benefits as well. He’s also fathered three kids by two different women, and they’re wards of the state as well.
To be sure, no one’s getting rich off SSI. But multiply these fraudulent claims by a few million, and you can see how much money is thrown out the window each year.
And BTW, I turned in the Mississippi fraudster a few years ago. After a cursory check by the SSA, he kept his benefits.
Yep...you should see my neighbors house, and their two new vehicles...she’s on disability..(but hand mows lawn, hand washes cars, works in her garden) plus she works for pay on some sort of computer thing she does.
He on the other hand was in auto accident, and now he is on disability and working a job under the table.
Lawn is groomed to the hilt and new deck on the house...both have new vehicles as well..and new garage to house them in...
Needless to say I have nothing to do with those folks at all.... my disgust is so great. I hear someone turned them in but there was no follow up...and so it goes.
