Pitcher Armando Galarraga, who lost a perfect game recently in the ninth inning, is the poster boy for modern, Oprahfied American sports. But I would take the attitude of a Vince Lombardi any day over Galarraga and his touchy-feely sensibilities....

My philosophy is this: situations transpire.
The Hall of Fame will receive the spikes that Galarraga wore when he pitched Wednesday’s game. It will also get the first-base bag that was used in the ninth inning — the bag where Joyce’s missed call occurred.

Joyce makes the correct call, and it’s the 21st perfect game in baseball history - and the 3rd perfect game in about 4 weeks.
Instead, he gets his own page in baseball history.
