NASHVILLE, Tenn., -- The Tennessee Department of Labor is preparing for the mass layoff of 1,700 Gaylord employees. The department is taking steps now to prevent thousands of others already looking for jobs from being affected.

You are correct. Gaylord has bent over backward for its employees and has taken care of them as long as it could.
I hope he hires them all back when he is able. My guess is he will.
Only Nashville, and Memphis. This is the result of the massive 1,000 year flood. And is a drop in the bucket because that flood affected 52 counties, half the state.
The Navy Base in Millington (Shelby Co) had 200 homes damaged, plus offices and other buildings. Serv Pro is doing the clean up after the Navy personal did the initial stuff.
1 mobile home park had 300 units rendered useless. Most had no flood ins. And for those who did have a small dab of it, FEMA wouldn’t help them. We had 1 lone FEMA bus to take applications, no help.
2 weeks ago 40,000 acres in Tipton Co were still under flood water.
Unlike Nashville which had Country Music Stars and the Titans to hold concerts, the rest of the state has had nearly ZERO outside help.
