I also attended his camps (Girls basketball), at both CLC and Pepperdine in the 70's. Remember, the first day of camp, his first appearance, he would pull his metal chair to the middle of the court, take off his socks and shoes, and show us the proper way of putting on socks? I still put my socks on the same way. My last year attending, I won the Pyramid of Success plaque given to one player from each team. So honored to have Coach Wooden present that to me. My father and I had spent many a Friday night and Saturday night watching the teams from the Alcindor era through the Walton/Wilkes era play (KTLA Channel 5). My parents would let me stay up even, when the delayed telecast was on at midnight.

Coach Wooden was one of my heroes also, and the reason I wanted to attend UCLA.

(still haven't recovered from the loss to Notre Dame).

lol..I hear ya, but the streak had to end sometime. ....and '73/'74 was an off season for them. Just didn't quite jell that season. I remember they lost a couple games to Ore and Ore. St. shortly thereafter. And of course the loss to N.C. St. in the Final Four.

I only attended one game at Pauley during the Wooden era, a 65 - 64 win over Maryland on Dec. 1, 1973. VERY close call -- the 76th win of the streak. Alas, when I attended UCLA in the early mid-'80s they stunk bigtime.

You winning the Pyramid of Success plaque is VERY impressive. Must've been quite an honor.
