"I never expected an police officer to come into the space," he said. "If it happened again, I wouldn't serve him." Crud

Vegans are being targeted by the police? What kind of “veggies” are in the cafe? Maybe the green leafy kind sold by the bag?

Wouldnt you think this idiot just opened himself up to a robbery? If the place does get robbed I just hope no customers are hurt or killed. The owners? Feh!

On their website, this description:
Vegan.
Worker owned.
Collectively managed.
IWW-closed shop.
They are adherents of anarchism and are extreme left loons. The cops would be well advised to leave them on their own.

I don't believe I've ever wished armed robbery on anyone. This could be the first. No worries. I'll wish it for you.

He was having a coffee. What’s your problem?
BTW, this is apparently an “anarchist” hangout, according to the comments after the story. F them.
To: massgopguy
C’mon, it’s Portland, Oregon. Nobody gets busted for weed there. It would destroy the only viable part of the economy.

Another Obama voter, I guess. I suppose he’s waiting for some of that free Obama money to help with his business.

Vegans are being targeted by the police? What kind of veggies are in the cafe? Maybe the green leafy kind sold by the bag?Someone pointed out to me that many vegans consume drugs as a way of making up for lack of animal protein in their diet. From the vegans I've known that seems to be the case (it's cannabis, nicotine, or some other thing).

If it is against the law to refuse service in a public accomodation to say, a gay couple, a black, an asian or a transgendered person then obviously it is against the law to discriminate against cops. Any bets on whether those other groups are protected? Take them to court and make it hurt.

A bunch of officers from that precinct should go in and order steak... ... and then note EVERY vestige of dirt, rat droppings, etc., and proceed to have the health department pay a visit. No way these hippies are going to keep it clean.

I once got to a dance at Norse Hall early and walked over to this restaurant at the suggestion of a woman who also arrived early.
Stange people and an even stranger clientel.
Nothing on the menu I would even try.

I worked in a diner when I was a teen that gave 1/2 off to anyone in a uniform. According to the owner, he couldn’t legally give the police stuff for free, something about bribes I would guess, so he decided to expand it. It came in handy more than once.

This was a bit of a dilemma, but I finally decided that I like vegans even less than cops.

"It's not about the police," Langley said. "It's about what the police represent to many people who frequent the cafe...."That says a lot right there.
