It’s no longer a goal of having Nikki Haley take first place in the primary. The goal is now to get her above 50% and eliminate the need for a runoff.

Absolutely agree. I'd expect this kind of gutter behavior from democrats, not republicans working against one of their own.
As someone who's traveled and done business in and with Indians the other appalling part is attacking a woman who is a convert from her Sikh background to Christianity. Sikhism is a monotheistic offshoot of Hinduism and has historically provided a warrior caste for the long fight against Islam.
In Hindu families it is not unusual for a son (biggest meanest looking one, I suppose) to be selected to become Sikh. Those daggers and swords the men carry weren't meant to be ceremonial and in our own fight against Islam I am proud to have them by our side. While we are new to the struggle, they have been fighting this battle for hundreds of years.
While working in India I learned that the only taxi drivers to trust were the ones with the turbans (Sikhs).
