I've forever given up the thought the American public is clueless. Yesterday, I was walking to my car after visiting an office store. Coming toward me in the lot was an elderly gentleman walking and swaying with a cane; and rather wobbly at that.
I kept an eye on him as I was passing in case he needed assistance. But he looked up at me (keep in mind, I had no idea who he was) and said "Say! You want to hear a story?" Surprised, but not wanting to hurt his feelings, I said I would.
He said "Some time ago we had Reagan in the WH. He invited Bob Hope to the WH, and he invited Johnny Cash to the WH. Today we have Obama. And no cash and no hope".
I laughed so hard I couldn't speak for a minute but did thank the old fella telling him he'd made my day. Seriously, this is a true event that happened yesterday.
Now, I've come to realize that this little event is a window into the American mind. When people will walk up to complete strangers in a parking lot to bear their soul about this nation's political health, we are at a point in this country's history that is close to revolutionary. People are upset. And people know what they're upset about. Our government doesn't listen to its people any more and the people are fed up. This is going to be a very interesting few months.
Wonderful. I like that old guy. I have to tell that to my folks!
