Directives The Six-Month Deepwater Moratorium as set forth in this Notice to Lessees and Operators (“Moratorium NTL”) directs you to cease drilling all new deepwater wells, including any wellbore sidetracks and bypasses; prohibits you from spudding any new deepwater wells; and puts you on notice that, except as provided herein, MMS will not consider for six months from the date of this Moratorium NTL drilling permits for deepwater wells and for related activities as set forth herein. For the purposes of this Moratorium NTL, “deepwater” means depths greater than 500 feet.

I have posted this, because I don't see anything except the 33 exploratory wells. This thing shuts down all drilling in "deep water" defined as 500 feet which is pretty much everything.

Does that include the relief wells for this spill?

Nope. The relief wells are exempted per the statement released from MMS.(Minerals Management Service)
There are 33 wells in the process of being drilled in the Gulf that have to be stopped “at a safe point”. There are a large number of wells that permits have been issued for that must wait a minimum of 6 months before they can commence drilling on. You can read the release at the MMS website.

It’s a good thing that President Bush kept filling our Strategic Reserve against the wishes of the democrats. With the Middle East heating up and Obama destroying our ability to tap our own oil..things are going to get pretty dicy before year’s end. At least we have some reserves(not that Obama and the democrats will use it wisely mind you).

THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!!

33 rigs, that’s about 10,000 people unemployed. Add the boats and other support services and you’ll get to 50,000+ jobs gone in a hurry.

Except the total will be pretty much every rig in the gulf of mexico.
They shut down the rig on my platform and it was not drilling an explatory
Well. It was a sidetrack off an existing well.

This will shut down just about every rig in the gulf.

Except for workover.
