I have close ties to a charter school. Several of my grandchildren attend one that is well run, stays within budget, offers a dream curriculum — the one that I would use if I could give up my income and home school my grandchildren. Most of the charter schools in this state are very similar. They are doing a better job of educating children than the run of the mill public schools, and they are doing it for a lot less money.
The best thing about charter schools in Utah - and the only reason they can run on a shoestring — is that there is no “tenure,” and they can fire teachers at will.
Charter schools are a great option for parents who want to get their kids out of regular public schools, but who can’t afford private schools. A voucher system would invite just as much abuse as a charter school system — probably more because there would be less oversight of what goes on at the private schools getting voucher money.
You make sense .
The Gulen schools operate cheaply because 1/2 the teachers are imported from Turkey under HB-1 Visas paid for by the foundation that is over that particular Gulen school.
The Turkish teachers are usually always men and are paid peanuts as 40% of their salary is paid back to the foundation.
That list is not 100% accurate you can take off the Beehive school it is done. I have been in contact with some of the parents who actually busted this fiasco. Add a new school in Sacramento: Pacific Technology School, and Pinnnacle Academy in Virginia. Magnolia School plans on expanding into 3 areas in California. Young Scholars of Central PA, is new. Also a few new pre-K, schools opening in Texas. Go to their websites it is obvious they teach Turkish language, song and dance. Students are taken on tours of Turkey for a “dog and pony” as well as local politicans and media to spread the love of Gulen. America you have become stupid. www.charterschoolwatchdog.com
