HIPAA does not prevent patients from disclosing their own information.

Yeah..you're correct on the acronym...my mistake.

I never said...the patients could not.

Just seemed the post I responded to...seemed to think the hospital was holding back info on purpose.

HIPPA also does not prevent hospitals from releasing generalized statements as to the symptoms they might be seeing and treating, or from talking in hypotheticals about what they might expect to see in people working with the oil cleanup.
