Former Massachusetts governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mitt Romney has announced that he will campaign for Senator John McCain (R - Ariz.) next week.
According to McCain's campaign website, Romney will join the senator in Mesa, Arizona for a town hall meeting on Friday, June 4th.
McCain, a four-term senator, is leading former Scottsdale Congressman J.D. Hayworth in a close race in the Republican primary in Arizona. The primary will be held in August.
The announcement may come as a surprise, as during the 2008 presidential race Romney and McCain, both seeking the Republican nomination, appeared to be bitter rivals.

Good grief. I'm tired of establishment liberal republicans helping out other establishment liberal republicans.

Not surprising. These people, to a person, are deathly afraid of conservatives, and how their ascendency might upset the RINOs’ nice comfortable position as the party that goes along to get along.

All of ya’ll act like Hayworth is some guy who has never been in office. He is as much a Washingtonian that McCain is- Remember Abramoff and Indians? As much as I dislike McCain- he will win in the general, Hayworth will not

Nobody exemplifies “washington” on the republican side more than mccain does.
Sure, Hayworth has been in washington. And I’m sure there’s many times where he has voted in a way other than conservatives would like.
But Hayworth is a remarkable improvement over McCain. McCain has repeatedly and consistently campaigned against conservatives and conservatism.
Because he has an R next to his name, very often I consider McCain to be more dangerous than Obama. Who is McCain’s hero? Progressive Teddy Roosevelt. This fact is incredibly relevant and revealing.
