Israel Stations Nuclear Missile Subs off Iran
The Times (U.K.) ^ | May 30, 2010

Three German-built Israeli submarines equipped with nuclear cruise missiles are to be deployed in the Gulf near the Iranian coastline. This is in response to Israeli fears that ballistic missiles developed by Iran, Syria and Hezbollah could hit sites in Israel, including air bases and missile launchers. Ehud Barak, the defence minister, was said to have shown President Obama classified satellite images of a convoy of ballistic missiles leaving Syria on the way to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Netanyahu, prime minister, has emphsaized the danger to Obama.

At least one party is taking the threat of a jihadist and fanatical Iranian regime - with its promise to obliterate Israel and destabilize the entire Middle East - seriously. While Iran has been completing its nuclear arsenal, Obama has been wasting time with his useless "let's talk" show-and-tell games with an apocalyptic bunch of terrorists whose Dark Age Islamic religious beliefs promise them salvation and deliverance from a holocaust they believe it's their duty to initiate. Hillary, who has said there will "be consequences" (when the world knows there will be NONE) at every crisis has become an international laughingstock. John Foster Dulles once said the greatest foreign policy disaster is to not be taken seriously by the rest of the world. We've arrived.

Obama is making the failed Carter administration look good by comparison.

That's a tough statement to agree with however I am to that point.

Carter sucked BIG time!

We nuked the Japs and they love us.

What does Israel have to lose at this point?

The muzzies wont quit of their own accord, they will have to be at least decimated and westernized if there is to be any chance at peace this century.

That's the problem the Iranian leadership don't think.

Oblama has the Israelis rightly fearing that the US wont defend them and he's emboldened the Iranian leadership into thinking they can do anything they want with impunity. Same holds for the surrounding Islamic dominated countries. He's brought them all out of the woodwork.

Unlike the others, honest f’ups, Obama is making a dedicated effort to align and work with the muslim nations to achieve their goals. Thes nations and the UN are HIS/our new allies.

This my friend, is no longer America.

"How long does it take to sail fro the Persian Gulf to Turkey?"

Roughly 7.5 days at 20 knots - probably a little longer because you can only travel about 12 knots max through the Suez.

I have opined for years that only decisive military action will change the conditions on the ground and make a settlement possible. I recently heard a discussion in which Victor David Hanson suggested also that there needs to be not only a cessation of hostilities but a humiliation of the loser to grind the point into their psyches.

He used the events at the end of WWI, when the German Army was surrendered while on conquered foreign soil, and marched home to Germany battered but unbeaten and intact. Little surprise that the results of the armistice did not sink in.

Egypt made peace after Israel took the whole Sinai peninsula all the way to the Suez Canal. Israeli tanks overlooking the pyramids made an impression on the Egyptians.

Something similar needs to happen again. Taking Damascus and installing a cooperative occupation government might be a good start. Cut the supply lines to hezbollah and hamas in the bargain, and make the blockade airtight.

Destroy the hezbollah rear areas, sanitize the Bekaa Valley. Impose control over the pathetic lebanese "government" and clean out the assorted rats' nests throughout Lebanon.

Then go to the Saudis and say "Let's talk."

I thought Israeli policy was to neither confirm or deny the existence of a nuclear arsenal. If that’s true then this report is a bunch of hooey because the Israelis wouldn’t share that kind of information with anybody.

Carter sat around for over year and did nothing but whine while Iran held American citizens hostage for over a year and the Ayatolah laughed at us. It was only when Reagan was elected and the mullahs knew he meant business that the captives were released. All I’m saying is that it took Carter a whole term to make a catastrophe and a mess of foreign policy and Obama’s done it in 15 months.

Right - the world knows that Israel is SERIOUS. This is because to them foreign policy is not a game like Foggy Bottom (State Dept.) and Hillary are playing but a matter of existential survival, life and death. Given Obama’s world apology tour and the fact that he’s more interested in giving us a socialist economy than in strengthening our national security, who can take him seriously? He spends all his time tearing down what he should be building up.

Yes, the old “Blame Bush” mantra. But I think this spin line is even getting worn thin for Democrats. For example, we’ve endlessly heard the crock about the deficit under Bush. But, as Heritage and numerous others have pointed out, Obama’s deficit and national debt are already more in 15 months than Bush’s for eight years.

I think the whole world knows knows the official Israeli line on nuclear weapons is just a PR strategy and isn’t taken seriously. And everyone knows that the Israeli’s are smart and that the post-holocaust motto “Never again!” is something that had better be understood as an existential reality and not just a slogan.

Does anyone seriously believe that this incident would have even happened if we had a supporter of Israel in the White House? Obama is emboldening Israel’s enemies and allowing things like this to happen. But having said that, Israel is fully capable of deafening itself and will continue to do so. I really liked the strong statement that Bibi made today. It looks like his government is not going to be intimidated by all of this false outrage that Israel’s enemies are trying to cook up around the world.

Absolutely. Obama has wasted more time on a world apology tour and playing the sycophant and toady for the Islamofascists of the world than he has in defending an ally, the only democracy in the region, and part of the Judeo-Christian Western civilization which opposes the worldwide Islamic threat. Weakness only encourages aggressors and Obama has broadcast that image of America to the world.
