My bet is that Al knows that he is about to get hit with an Inconvenient Lawsuit for fraud. By getting divorced Tipper gets half of the 100 million Al has socked away. Then when Al gets hit for fraud you can only go after his half. Ken Lay's and Bernie Maddoff's wife did the same thing. The former got to keep most of the money. Because Madoff's wife waited until after the fraud went public they took her half too.

Does anyone remember that Tipper Gore was very uncomfortable to appear in crowds, be in the limelight with her husband to the extent of psychological/medical treatment? First Gore submitted; but once again requested of her a commitment to be beside him in the limelight as a Presidential candidate, knowing her fears. I had labeled him a egomaniac SOB politician because of neglect in recognizing Tipper's health interests over his own. Their children were not grown at the time, as well. This dedicated caring husband/father wanted his wife to still stand with him in a run for President and carry on the normal duties of First Lady.

The Clinton's completely removed any unnecessary relationship with Mr. Gore.
