Sometimes the rain just won't stop. I was remembering something the other day that Alvin Texas in 1979 had the biggest rain fall ever recorded, 43”. I can't remember exactly how long it rained, maybe 24 hours. We lived only about 20 miles from there on high ground (relatively speaking) and we could not get out until the water drained off.

Been to Texas many times, when I used to work for a living, and have been caught in some afternoon gully washers in Houston, that turned the interstates and access roads into rivers.
