Hi Maggie. Speaking of catching the essence of Tony in a pix, I think that article you posted does indeed capture the essence of Tony's faith and courage. Only his humor was omitted, do to the nature of his message.
In his message, Tony said “It is what it is.” Those are words we all need to embrace. Life is not as we wish it. We have to deal with it as it is. Not giving up, or blaming others, but making the best of what we are faced with.
saveliberty has also been doing that and is another SnowFlake example of positive persistence.
I am off to do some stuff and will be back in a bit.

118th Annual Commencement Address:
"Reason, Faith, Vocation" Tony Snow, White House Press Secretary
Basilica of the National Shrine of Immaculate Conception
May 12, 2007
I love this commencement address. It is so very Tony. Almost painful to read as I can hear his voice...and also enjoy his humor and wisdom.
Here is a small excerpt:
"And finally this: Wherever you are and whatever you do, never forget at this moment, and every moment forward, you have a precious blessing. You've got the breath of life. No matter how lousy things may seem, you've got the breath of life. And while God doesn't promise tomorrow, he does promise eternity."

A bunch of my friends and I were just standing in the kitchen and remembering Tony Snow the other day. What a lovely, sweet-spirited representative of conservatism he was and what a loss for everyone.
No matter what obnoxious, badgering or insipid question came from the WH press, he was always smiling, teasing and kind with his answers. I loved watching him deal with Helen Thomas. That was a treat.
Kisses to Tony from all the people who loved him, but never met him.

Deb, thank you for such a warm and descriptive post about Tony! I loved how he responded to people so calmly and rationally, but with heart.
Thank you once again!
Cheers,

Tony loved his band " Beats Workin " and he
really played his flute.
