Good thread to take us back to lurking days in the late ‘90’s. I found the Free Republic link on Drudge’s page when the blue dress knocked the death of Ron Brown out of the headlines. What I learned by lurking!
IMHO, most normal people do not believe others are capable of lying, manipulation and political crime. They fail to be vigilant; they criticize the messenger. They voted for 0 because “he said he was for change...he said he’d be post-racial...post-partisan”. Just words. FReepers were on to the Toons, and they were on to 0. The Downside Legacy taught us what people are really capable of, and new chapters continue to be written.
You are very close. People tend to do things they need to take care of themselves. The not so bright folks hit you with common knowledge. The political minded folks hit you with common knowledge. Of course that knowledge is wrapped up in their brain. Their lack of common sense is deafening.
Excellent comments you wrote. We have lived and learned a lot since Clinton but, so far, not how to prevent it. Lol, posting the Clintoons was how I started and your post prompted me to give a grand finale.
Which brings up the name of another early Freeper - Lucy Ann Goldberg, mother of Jonah. She was key to the unravelling of the whole Clinton WH and lost her job and government pension and benefits as a result.

The DSL was a labor of love for her country by Alamogirl. Like a CIA analysts she took bits and pieces of information posted on FR and elsewhere, cataloged them and connected the dots in a logical and understandable manner. The Clintons would have hated her more than they hated Lucy Ann had they known about her. The rest of us owe her a debt of gratitude.
