I’m thinking that Djou will probably be the title holder for serving the least amount of time in Congress in the History of the United States. Hawaii is such a “DemocRAT” State, and now, with only one Dem to run against him, he has the same chance of victory in November as that proverbial snow ball in hell.

I prefer to have Djou vs. Hanabusa than him against Case. Against Hanabusa, there is a chance the moderates and independents who voted for Case in May either stay at home or even vote for Djou. There is zero chance that anybody who voted for Hanabusa to stay at home or vote for Djou if the other way around happens.

Not saying that Djou will win this, but his chance is better against Hanabusa than against Case.

It wouldn’t be a record.

Just off the top of my head: Jean Ashbrook, elected June 29, 1982; served until Jan 3, 1983.

Jack Swigert, elected Nov. 1982, died Dec. 27, 1982 a few days before the term began.

Plenty of appointed Senators have served just a few days. And as recently as November 2006-January 2007 Congresswoman Sekula-Gibbs served a total of 55 days or so in Congress.

And I wouldn’t count Djou out for reelection. The HI-01 gave President Bush 47% in 2004 and Hanabusa won’t be able to attract independents or moderate Democrats like Case could.
