S. Korean military puts anti-N. Korea propaganda plan on hold

SEOUL, May 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's military has deferred a plan to fly anti-Pyongyang propaganda leaflets to North Korea, a defense ministry official said Sunday, as the communist nation has kept up harsh rhetoric against Seoul's propaganda warfare.

(snip)

"Leaflet distribution had been put off due to weather conditions so far, but we have now decided to put it on hold for the time being, considering the political situation," the ministry official said on condition of anonymity.

North Korea has denied any responsibility for the sinking that killed 46 sailors, and strongly protested South Korea's punitive measures. Pyongyang has warned of an "all-out war" if it is punished or sanctioned, and threatened to strike down border loudspeakers if propaganda broadcasts resume.

(snip)

The loudspeaker campaign, which had been expected to begin in mid-June, is also likely to be to put on hold.

Once again North Korea gets away with it.
Murders 46 sailors and the South is too frightened to throw some leaflets over the border in revenge.

Yep.

North one this round.

Two many RINOS in the Korean Administration even though it is a Conservative one. Plus, probably a LOT of behind the scenes pressure from Obongo and the "World Community", not to do it. Next will be an aid package to North Korea in return for their "good behavior". We just buy them off and they only get stronger and stronger.

Let’s see if the NORKs follow S. Korea’s lead and tone things down a little bit.

Referring the Cheonan matter to the UNSC still could be enough in and of itself to piss the NORKs off and encourage them to take further provacative measures.

Something tells me “the fix is in” and that things will be cooling off from here on out. Just something. I think there is some shuttling going around and some face saving taking place.

I suspect you are correct. The NORKs get away with it, yet again.

They have mastered the game. They have built up institutional memory for having the same people in charge of the Jacking Around the Foreigners policies with the various DPRK bureaus, and at the right time when retirement calls, they hand it off to younger mentoree DPRK Foreign Ministry and Party Policy wonks.

In the US, a) they dont know jackshit about North Korea; be) they care only about their resume and immediate process-oriented diplomatic breakthroughs, and not necessarily the future of the Reublic, and c) they rotate out of State, often leaving a brand new crew of neophytes who have to learn by trial and error from zero, why their diplomatic parterns, the Norkies, just laugh across the table at such foolish bumbling by a superpower. They play us like fiddles. I am sick of it, year in and year out. What a scam, friend jhpigott.

The only way, it seems, that this cycle is going to be broken is for the NORKs to do something truly stupid - like shelling Seoul. They seem to get away with everything else.

I still think Kim isn’t done with the provacations this go around. He loves to show off during American holidays . . . tomorrow is Memorial Day

It does appear North Korea has once again won the battle. Simply amazing.

And people wonder why the allies sat around and let Hitler re-arm back in the thirties. Stupidity is timeless, it appears.
