President Obama says the U.S. will pursue 'all responsible' methods to contain the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico after BP announced the 'top kill' method had failed.
This country was founded by people who took great risks.
He’s a national disgrace!
>> President Obama says the U.S. will pursue ‘all responsible’ methods
Why rule out the irresponsible methods, or did he?
Hey, with all the years he’s had in the drilling business, he’s calling the shots.
And why not? He’s been so successful with banks, autos, insurance companies....
What if they put a pretty hefty explosive charge in the well, far below the surface but above the gas and oil and then set it off. Seems like the area above it would collapse in on the newly created space and clog up the pipe above the level of the explosion. Heck it happens all the time in the old movies. Someone in a mine shaft and something causes the shaft between them and the exit to collapse, effectively blocking them from escape. Just change the people in the mine shaft for the the deposit of oil.
You might have to use several charges at different levels in order to free up enough debris to fill the void right below it, but sooner or later there would be so much debris piled on the pipe that it would be sealed.

Are you sure Malia didn’t say this? Her daddy was at the University of Chicago shooting hoops when BP gave up on Top Hat.
ooops...make that “Top Kill.”
Apparently this is about BP’s effort to try to cut off the riser above the BOP and using a lower marine riser package. O must not like the idea of cutting off the riser above the BOP. This needs to be done for either of BP’s next 2 options. So what does BP do now? I guess wait for the relief wells to be done in August?
I think you were correct the first time....
Ah.. I misread the title. For some reason I thought he was not going to allow BP to try the LMRP. Of course it has risks. Everything they are trying to do has inherent risks associated with it.
I’m not an oil drilling genius, but it seems to me if they cut the riser off just above the BOP, there will be a lot more oil gushing out. If this cap business fails, the flow will be a lot more than there is now. There is great potential of making this a lot worse.
Yeah. I think they are expecting that it will get worse as the kinks and what not in the riser are suppressing the flow somewhat.
What if BP just says to hell with it we are going home ?
Has anyone noted the curious silence of the UN, Cuba and Venezuela?
Their stock would go to zero on Tuesday as they become an industry pariah.
