She tried to buy the property. I suspect the Dirty Old Man (this creep is almost seventy) probably made a huge offer just for the rent. Remember, he was willing to shell out over fifty K just to have dinner with Sarah. (It was a charity auction on ebay).

The problem is that the property owner has to be willing to sell to her. Considering this property owner rented the house deliberately to this stalker...

Only option in that case is to move.

IIRC, the Palin’s had been trying to contact the owner over the winter- the implication that they were trying to buy the place. Previously, the home had been rented- owner I believe is out of state.

Right, there are a lot of details there. As a timeline, we have last summer, when the Palins rented the place. We have fall, winter, spring, when the Palins were trying to rent the place again for this summer, and we have this summer, when McGinniss moved in. We have details that we can’t place in the timeline. When were the “renovations” made? When did the owner conclude that the Palins weren’t going to pay? What is the story about the renovations? Is any of that true? No matter what it is, it’s a somewhat interesting story that I’d like to hear the details of.

I think you were on the original thread about Sarah’s facebook post and you added important info about the new construction. It is good that Palin has been proactive about these things. Not quite as good that she was unsuccessful.

But my concern here is more with what some freepers were saying about the facts as we knew them at the time. We didn’t know anything then about any attempts Palin might have made to solve the close neighbor potential problem. And Sarah could’ve thrown in a line in her facebook about “We’re disappointed that our neighbor did not rent the house to us, like last year.” Or “we’re building another house, and this neighbor won’t be a problem after we’re moved in”.

With the limited information available on the facebook, it really jumped out at my as something that was missed, and shouldn’t have been. Now that more details are known, I feel a lot better about it. Sometimes you try, and it doesn’t work out quite right. That situation isn’t a bad on Sarah, not like not realizing the potential of the problem.

Again, at this point, the most disturbing thing is that no one but me seemed to think that the potential problem with the neighbors was anything that Palin should ever have to think about. No one said “maybe she did try to rent the house”. Nothing of the sort. The idea that people could use the marketplace - $ - to solve the problem was not considered when I referred to keeping problems away. Everyone assumed I was talking about government action when I made no reference at all to anything of the sort.

Money can be used to control your environment. Palin and I are on the same wavelength, but at least on Tuesday, everyone else was on a different one.

Well, as I said in the post you’re replying to, the Palins did rent the place last year. My point is about some pro Palin freepers. So I am aware that Palin made some attempts to solve the problem.

The point was, I saw the problem, and freepers attacked me for seeing it. This was before the facts were known. I recommended solutions. Freepers attacked me for those solutions. So it turns out the Palin did what I suggested. My comment is about freepers attacking me, and me being right, and them wrong.

Palin probably wanted to build a privacy fence, and the neighbor said I’ll build it if you’ll share the cost. The fence is dinky, and Palin had to build a new one to protect her privacy, why would she want to share the cost for the dinky fence?

I don’t know that, I’m just guessing.

If we’re gonna do guessing, someone on another thread suggested that the neighbors house was a junk house or a pig sty. Let’s imagine the worst. Rusted cars on the lawn, rusted appliances, garbage. Palin offered to pay to clean it up. Palin allowed neighbor / owner to take care of all the details and to send her the bill. The bill comes back in the range of $50K, or some ridiculous amount. Palin balks on paying. Neighbor then rents to McGinniss.

That’s another guess.

Your fence theory is plausible, but I’d ask where were the Palins, or someone looking out for Palins interests, when the inadequate fence was being built? If it’s the fence story, it doesn’t make Palin look good that this neighbor went through the whole effort without anyone telling him to stop, and then he doesn’t get paid in the end. If I’m in Palin’s position, I’d want to approve the plans before construction starts.

The “trash house” story is a little more appealing to me. Perhaps the neighbor billed out their own time cleaning up the place, and they gave themselves an hourly rate of $100 an hour, or $500 an hour. “What’s this labor cost $30K?” “Well, it took 8 people 8 hours at $500 an hour, that’s roughly $30K.” “I’m not paying $500 an hour.” That doesn’t make Palin look bad, I don’t think. Some would say that makes Palin cheap. Those would be liberals. Most people would think that Palin knows how to hold the line on expenses. They would not think that refusing to pay $500 an hour to the neighbor to clean up his own lawn is ripping the neighbor off.

THe reporter may want to do a little light reading

AS 11.46.320. Criminal Trespass in the First Degree

Further:

Trespassing notices must be printed legibly in English, be at least 144 square inches in size, give the name and address of the person under whose authority the property is posted and the name and address of the person who is authorized to grant permission to enter the property, be placed at each roadway and at each way of access onto the property that is known to the land owner. In the case of an island, signage must be placed along the perimeter at each cardinal point of the island. The sign must explicitly state any specific prohibition that the posting is directed against.

It doesn’t have to be every business owner to make McGinnis feel unwelcome. Plus, I’d like to think small business owners are more likely to be Sarah fans than not. Then again, even those who are not fans of Sarah’s might find this writer’s quasi-stalking behavior of her family despicable but not have thought there was any effective way to express that disgust. If just a few businesses hung the signs and refused him service, it might catch on.

What a creep!

JOE MCGINNIS: “I can see Piper Palin’s bedroom from my deck”!

Palin should hire a private investigator to dig up every bit of dirt on this slimebag, his publisher and his ‘friends’ and then post it on her facebook! LOL!
