Because BP pulled this going cheap crap, don't you think something needs to be corrected in their case. I am a "Drill Now" person, but I also know chances have been taken in the industry because of money.
It is not right that all of the oil industry will be made to suffer because of BP's screw up, but perception is everything to the general public.
What do you think the perception is right now to the people unfamiliar (most) with the oil industry?
Obummer, enviro-nuts and the Rats will have a field day hurting the oil industry, as a whole, because of BP's negligence.
They've made everyone look bad flyin' w/Capt. Bligh 'tude, time they got put of the ship into the little boat.
On the other hand (..5 fingers?), it could part of some uber evil greenie weenie plan.
They've been in league with the green devils since even before the days of "Beyond Petroleum", anyone remember?
We're talking about two different things: BP and the industry.
If BP pulled some crap, of course, it needs to be corrected.
But you were claiming the entire industry needed to be "corrected".
And, so far as I know, the entire industry has a pretty damn good record.
I have been sitting here, thinking, going over the permit materials for this well I am on and it dawned on me....
Someone signed off on the well plan. SOmeone with the government saw the casing diagrams, weights and specifications, and approved them.
I don't know who or with what agency, but likely MMS was involved, and possibly others.
But someone put the stamp on the package before the permit to drill was issued, guar-an-teed!
