Obama has suspended all new Gulf of Mexico deep-water drilling (by all companies) for at least the next six months.
While technically BP (or others) could at some point resume production on this field - my guess is that they will be prevented from doing so.
Likewise there is a strong effort on the left in congress to force BP out of ANY new production - this will also be fought in the courts for years to try and stop BP and every other company from drilling in US deep-water
