I took a break from work, and watched the live feed for a minute. I either just saw the whole thing entirely blow out, or BP is implementing LMRP or hot tap right now.
Specifically, I saw a HUGE rain of white clumps and particles which are either foam-like objects used in a junk shot or methane hydrates.
Then all of the water within the camera view got very, very dark. When I looked more closely, I could make out the outline of massive jet-black plumes of oil rising from below the camera.
At least as of right now (6:00 pm Pacific Standard Time), if you look at the live video feed below, you can see what I mean.
This is either very, very bad, or BP has abandoned the top kill/junk shots altogether and is in the middle of surgery where it has already cut off sections of the BOP and/or riser, and is trying to cap it off with a sealing grommet.

Well, I know how to plug this thing but nobody’s going to listen anyway so screw it...
we can’t allow it to give him a pass to lock down our energy.

I agree, ABSOLUTELY NOT~!! and we know he never let’s a crisis go to waste. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was sabotage to achieve his goals and I’m serious. Whatever the cause, it’s still a disaster for the Gulf Coast states, but do you think he cares? He hates those Bible loving gun clingers anyway. He’s probably fist bumping that big fat Wookie and high fiving Al Gore.
You’re right. I didn’t think about it. I trusted them. I shouldn’t have.
that is the gas I assume?
BP went cheap, a financial decision was made to take a chance by deviating from proved procedures and go less than half-assed in a number of ways. The BP company man who has complete authority on the rig followed orders from higher up. Financial decisions ruled and sound engineering decisions fell by the wayside.
WHY are you assuming?
see post 102
the bent riser with the multiple holes IS NOT the main leak and never was..that is above the BOP and they have been showing that since top kill started...then main leak is and always has been the broken pipe seen in bottom of post 102
I didn’t know this until today either...
wow that is alot of flow cominf out of the pipe
pardon me?
did i misspeak?
I asked the poster of the video link if that is gas blowing off in the video.
Do you have the details? I’ve seen the statements that they were using procedures that skimped on safety, but you can always say this. Always! The ideal is never realized, so when the actual meets with failure, the ideal is trotted out as the innocent betrayed. This is myth as failure analysis, and I don’t buy it.
To me, they were just way wide of the mark here; Engineers, bean-counters and all. They got something that they just didn’t expect. Why not? That’s my question.
I think the blowout was caused by clathrate. The phase boundary for methane clathrate is right along the depth and temperature of the well head, so you had clathrate coming up and “evaporating” in a process much like a volcanic eruption. I don’t see why this should have been anything unknown to them, but it looks like they didn’t see it coming.
Dunno ‘bout any of that.
What I want to know is why you still have your head.
I’ve heard ‘bout these things and what you say makes no sense with what I heard ‘bout those wno speak against the industry.
Would you care to sign my blog registry stating you’re against unionized representation in any fashion, form or puporse? You would in fact prefer to addrss circumstances on all fronts, whether health, safety, ...
you know where I’m going with that.
What say you? Each for his own (or non-for anybody that’s not dong my wife)?
I’m not sure what your post means.
1. There was evidence that the BOP was not being properly maintained.
2. When a well is "kicking" on you, You DO NOT remove Drilling mud from the hole.
3. When you know you have had lost circulation trouble and are having cement trouble you run a CBL and probably a USIT log to determine where your trouble is and how bad it is.
4.You "Shoot for a squeeze" and try to repair the bad cement job. (done all the time on wells).
5. You rerun CBL and USIT wireline tools to verify you now have a good cement job.
6. If you still don't have a good cement job, repeat steps 4 and 5.
7. Once the cement job is proved good by wireline sonic equipment (CBL and USIT)run in your final plug (packer) with heavy mud still in the hole.
BP did none of this because those procedures would have taken a lot of rig time, and time is money on a rig.
Maybe you did mispeak and maybe you did not.
MAYBE there are a whole lot of people hangin’ on each nuance of every single word you utter.
Ever kneel down on any beach whatsoever and pick up tar balls im front of a frenzied sychophantic entourage media?
Ever?
I want what you smoke
what does that mean?
I need you to define that statement before I can determine whether or not I’m going to suport your political issue...
“Already CNN international is asking whether Obama will see this “as an opportunity to finally reign in American energy consumption which is, per capita, staggeringly higher than the rest of the world”...
Of course he will....is there any question? Never let a “crisis” go to waste, right? I’m still expecting a ‘truthers’ group to develop on this one. I’m not so sure that this Administration wouldn’t create such a crisis in order to get exactly what they want....whatever it takes.
How does it feel to ‘want’?
Would you two just shut up and go to bed? Enough, already.
Please?
Hahahahahah! Cute.
