Pediatricians group reverses female mutilation policy
The American Thinker ^ | 5/28/2010 | Rick Moran

Posted on 05/28/2010 10:43:44 AM PDT by Dinah Lord

The American Academy of Pediatrics has reversed a decision made earlier this month to allow for a modified form of female genital mutilation they called a "ritual nick."

This is how they described it:

"However, the ritual nick suggested by some pediatricians is not physically harmful and is much less extensive than routine newborn male genital cutting. There is reason to believe that offering such a compromise may build trust between hospitals and immigrant communities, save some girls from undergoing disfiguring and life-threatening procedures in their native countries, and play a role in the eventual eradication of FGC. It might be more effective if federal and state laws enabled pediatricians to reach out to families by offering a ritual nick as a possible compromise to avoid greater harm."

The outcry, as you can imagine, was intense. We covered the story here.

Now the AAP is backpedaling furiously:

A good while back the American Psychological Association had to reverse itself when it declared child sex abuse healthy for kids.

Only intellectuals can be that stupid.

They were thinking “inter-generational sexual role mentoring”.

More about the SOB (swear to God - that's what the AAP refer to the Section on Bioethics as).

The Section on Bioethics was founded in 1988 and is dedicated to providing the general pediatrician and pediatric sub specialist with an understanding of the basic principles of bioethics and to help promote the importance of compassion, sensitivity, commitment, and high moral standards in the delivery of health care. In addition, the Section offers input to the AAP Board of Directors on bioethical issues and works with the AAP Committee on Bioethics to provide input to official Academy policy in this area.

Could someone at the AAP please explain to me how it is compassionate, sensitive and committed to high moral standards to mutilate a female's genitalia?

Not a Moose among them either, so who put them up to it?

That being said, it sounds like it is far easier to get “un-nicked” later in life than to reconstruct after some of the mutilation “procedures” done in the Moose world.

IMHO any doctor tht comes across a young girl who has been mutilated he should report that just as he would any oter form of abuse and the parents arrested for it.

9 of the 13 were women. (i think an “Aviva” is a woman but im not sure) This is a typical American feminist response. They care more about not offending Islam rather than they do mutilating the genitals of little girls.

Funny, when i do anything they don’t like, smoke, drink, fry food, BBQ, transfat, eat beef, own a gun, ride a motorcycle, etc etc. They aren’t so eager to compromise, they instead are CERTAIN that i must be reeducated.

Maybe the muslims need some reeducation.

If you want to know the gory details about fem gen mut, read “Infidel” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She grew up in 3 muslim countries, fled to Europe, was elected to the Dutch parliament, threatened with death, and is now in America working at a conservative think tank. The book is a fascinating tale of her life journey.

Also, I wish that I had not had my boys “mutilated.”

I’m not sure I understand your point about it being easier to get un-nicked.

That would be a good thing because...?

Ritual Nick = a compromise and more caving to political correctness. Again, we are licking their boots.

“Think”? Liberals do not think.

They “feel”, therefore they “know”
