A Michigan woman who fell asleep on a Philadelphia-bound flight and awoke to find herself trapped in the cabin more than three hours after it landed sued the airline Thursday, alleging false imprisonment.
Ginger McGuire, 36, boarded a Trans States shuttle Monday night at Dulles International Airport outside Washington. During the one-hour journey she fell asleep. The aircraft landed about 12:30 a.m. at Philadelphia International Airport, but McGuire said the flight crew hadn't bothered to rouse her. She awoke at 4 a.m., alone on the 50-seat plane with all the doors locked, she said. "Waking up to an empty airplane and not being able to get out was very horrifying," McGuire told WDIV-TV in Detroit.
McGuire, who works for a Michigan radio station, told the Detroit News that she had walked the aisle for 15 minutes. Though she used her phone to check the time, she said didn't think of calling for help, she said. Minutes later, the plane's door opened. She was greeted by a Transportation Security Administration officer and two Philadelphia police officers who questioned her for about 10 minutes....
McGuire's attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, said his law firm filed a lawsuit against United and Trans States, alleging negligence, false imprisonment and distress.

If she isn't, she has STERLING qualifications!
I'd be willing to bet that if you check the "frivolous lawsuit" archives, 90% of the cases will fall into O'Bozo voter territory!
“had something like 13 surgeries, including skin grafts and having part of her labia removed”
Thats what happens when you try to hold a cup of fresh hot coffee between your legs, right against your crotch, in a moving car.
FAIL>
she slept and wasted her own time. after waking up she had a cell phone after all. apologize to her, then give her a round trip ticket and be done with it.
If I was running the airline, I’d charge her for time spent on the plane for her private nap.
C’mon. Even you have got to have some standards. LOL
if she had had a stroke or was in a diabetic coma I could see a lawsuit, but she was sleeping.
her stupidity/scam, whichever it turns out to be!
SHE was not the stupid one. Had the crew done their duty, we wouldn’t be reading this story.
Every year we hear about the little girl who fell asleep on the bus and awoke alone and terrified because the lazy-ass driver failed to do his duty. If it happened to my kid, you can bet your ass there would be punitive repercussions.
Now granted, this was no 4 year old. But the MAIN point is, had the crew met their obligations, there would be nothing to talk about
I don’t agree with the fact that NO ONE thought to wake up this woman. This fact does not rise to the level of a lawsuit, though. When did we, as a society, get to the point where a simple apology for a MINOR error was an open invitation for a MAJOR lawsuit?
Just curious, is it difficult to be awakened?
I know there have been a few times on pain killers when I just could not wake up and be coherent.
I cannot imagine being in that deep of a sleep without some pharma help.
I agree.
The coffee case was “the straw that broke the back.” They had been warned (Mickey-D’s) several times.
OMG who just heard this woman on Fox News? She sounded like an idiot -her attorney should NEVER have allowed her to speak - lol
I guess you think Ford’s decision regarding the design flaw of the Pinto’s gas tank was a good one too: compare lost profits plus slight cost increase v. the oost to pay off the burn victims that were predicted to result. higher profits if we pay the victims? break out the marshmallows...
I heard her, too. What a ditz. She couldn’t even memorize her talking points before going live.
I agree. I find it hard to believe the crew would miss a passenger sleeping on the plane. It would not surprise me if she hid in the bathroom, until the plane was empty, in order to fabricate grounds for this frivolous lawsuit.
Even if her story is true, she suffered very little to no actual damages. She had a nice nap and then was stuck on the plane for about 15 minutes after she woke up (which probably would have been 2 minutes if she had realized her cell phone, in addition to the clock feature, has an equally useful PHONE feature). Big deal.
No one’s ever tried to wake me; I would guess it would be hard as I can tell when it’s worn off - I just wake up dreaming.
I just saw it as I sat down for lunch.
What an idiot.
She did not know why she was suing, nor for how much.
“What do you expect to get out of this?”
She answers, “Talk to my attorney.”
This won’t see the inside of a courtroom.
Langoliers.
Why is she a slut? Stupid...yes. Slut? I think not.
I’m thinking Ambien as well.
