Obama has done zero. He was spinning so much that the press room turned into a giant centrifuge. There were finally some tough questions asked, and clearly there are ready made solutions that he has not tried. He must have been cramming for a week though since he did have some facts without using a teleprompter.

Secondly, he "mis-spoke" when he said this never happened before, look up the Ixtoc Well disaster in 1979 in the Gulf of Mexico. Very similar to the current spill and it is obvious that people did not learn Jack Spit about how to solve it, since it was the same drilling company. BP gets two smacks for being stupid. Ixtoc was finally solved by drilling a relief well after 3 million barrels were spilled. That should make you feel great.

Surface oil spills are relatively easy to clean up. Small areas are easier to clean up than massive ones.

I mean, seriously, the oil travels no less than one mile through water before it can possibly reach the surface, and more likely, travels much further than that before reaching the surface.

The vacuum idea is great, for another disaster.

While blame is being tossed about, check out this link. In additon to the big three, BP, Transocean, Halliburton, it also seems a supplier fell down on the job failing to deliver stuff that Halliburton needed for safe cement work. This, however, apparently did not stop H from attempting to do their part of the job anyway.
