Great observation! In a Democrat controlled State where Democrats appoint judges, or if it is a Republican appointed judge who will face stiff election opposition if he is too conservative, it is not too difficult to see where a jackass of a judge would find that it is in the public interest to release divorce records.

Part of Ryan's statement:

Ryan Statement:

" Thirteen months ago, I announced my determination to seek the Republican nomination for the United States Senate. I entered this race because I love my country and my home state of Illinois - and because I believe that one man, living for purposes larger than himself, can make a difference.

The media has gotten out of control. The fact that the Chicago Tribune sues for access to sealed custody documents and then takes unto itself the right to publish details of a custody dispute - over the objections of two parents who agree that the re-airing of their arguments will hurt their ability to co-parent their child and will hurt their child - is truly outrageous."

And to cap it off, here's THIS:

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert Statement:

"Jack Ryan made the right decision. I know it must have been a difficult one.

The Illinois Republican Party is fortunate to have a number of talented and qualified candidates who would represent our state well in Washington, D.C. I am confident the party will select a candidate who will unite Republicans throughout this state and quickly launch a winning campaign based on substantive issues that are of importance to Illinois voters."

What I have to say to Hastert at this point is genuinely unprintable, unless of course I want the mods to take me out back to the woodshed. And I can guarantee they wouldn't be using the Free Republic paddle.

No better examples than during Obamacare with the Nebraska corn husker bribe and the Louisiana purchase. I seem to sense a pattern of behavior leaning to bribery in this administration.

There is a very consistent pattern of going around the established legal processes to get his way.

So true. You can get around the legal process for a while, but sometimes, you step in a bear trap. The clock ticks.

I don’t think any of this is going to stick. Watergate unravelled because some low level flunkies got big prison sentences, and Lewinsky’s blue dress came out when she was threatened with jail time. I doubt any of these guys seriously think there’s a real threat of jail time, so they’re gonna stonewall it.

It is not agains't the law. It is the law.

"State Defense Forces (SDF) (also known as State Guards, State Military Reserves, or State Militias) in the United States are military units that operate under the sole authority of a state government; they are not regulated by the National Guard Bureau nor are they part of the Army National Guard of the United States.

State Defense Forces are authorized by state and federal law and are under the command of the governor of each state. State Defense Forces are distinct from their state's National Guard in that they cannot become federal entities.

more:

The President of the United States is also its most powerful military leader known by the term of Commander in Chief, and is authorized by the Militia Act of 1903 to federalize his individual States National Guard Forces putting them under his command, something he does not have the power to do with State Defense Forces.

We're talking about the National Guard not the state guard.

“Obama, in fearing a revolution against him by the States, this report continues, has moved swiftly against them, including nationalizing nearly all National Guard Forces in Governor Pawlenty’s Minnesota in what is being described as their State’s largest call up of troops since World War II.

You might want to look at some law a little more recent than 1903 too.

# The National Defense Authorization Act 2008 Pub.L. 110-181

Repeals provisions in section 1076 in Pub.L. 109-364 but still enables the President to call up the National Guard of the United States for active federal military service during Congressionally sanctioned national emergency or war. Places the National Guard Bureau directly under the Department of Defense as a joint activity. Promoted the Chief of the National Guard Bureau from a three-star to a four-star general.

We are in an Congressionally sanctioned national emergency or war, established by Congress, how does that change what he can do now with the National Guard.

In any case, who is to stop him?

How does that authorize their use, under the direction of the President, to act within a state? It doesn't. You don't think the governor's of those states would stop him? If you want to believe this bizarrely written tin-foil hat BS then be my guest.

I absolutely know they wouldn't/couldn't stop him, what dream land do you live in? Alfafa Bill Murry tried that, you recall the outcome of that dustup?

Again I ask, who do you think would stop him? Complaints, and law suits, do not count.

He’s not getting impeached over this. The congress will go for it over this. If you want to ensure obama reelection than the congress will try impeachment for this. The stupid public will have sympathy for him and it will be bubba redux.
