Issa email: Sestak scandal is “Obama’s Watergate”

An e-mail from Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) campaign suggested Wednesday that the controversy over Rep. Joe Sestak’s (D-Pa.) alleged administration job offer could be President Barack Obama’s Watergate scandal.

In an e-mail with the subject line “The Sestak Affair – Obama’s Watergate?”, the ranking member on the Oversight and Government Reform committee focused on “long-standing questions” about the offer Sestak says was made to him to urge him to drop out of the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary.

The campaign e-mail says the allegations would amount to three felony charges of bribery and corruption.

This may, indeed, be Obama’s Watergate. However, Nixon had the dominant media against him and a somewhat responsible Justice Department. With the Beltway media on his side, and a totally incompetent attorney general, Obama will skate.

I think it could be more serious than Watergate when we get a new Congress installed.

Tempest in a tea pot. Holder has already refused to appoint a special prosecutor. Game over.

With the media we have today, there is no way it matters.

The democrats will always skate away for doing real crimes, while conservatives will be prosecuted whenever possible for next to nothing.

Just ask Scooter Libby.

Yeah right... we'll all be waiting with breathless excitement as GOP “leaders” crawl out of whatever hole they've been hiding in over the year and a half, grow a set, and actually DO something other than meekly ask the Demonrats to open an investigation on their messianic a$$ clown and his minions.

There is no possibility of “Watergate” on the left. No one in the Democrat Government Press will take anything up that will damage the Left or any part of it. Without pressure from that source Republicans will not take it up, even if they have a majority. They will be reluctant even with the pressure applied because of the desertion to the Left of Republican Senators in the Clinton affair. Democrats will never do “what’s right” no matter how much pressure appears to be applied and neither the big papers nor any of the networks will countenance an assault of any sort on the Left-in-Power. Even as the Big Media goes bankrupt and loses adherents it is still the source of Authority in such matters for almost the whole population even as they say they don’t believe what they read/hear there.

Thinking I read where they can bypass Holder and go to District Of Columbia Court. Wouldn’t that be nice.

You can’t tell me that there’s no recourse but “make them investigate themselves”.

You have succinctly stated where this will go.

This takes us off of the point.

That is the only LEGAL recourse. Congress may hold hearings but nothing will come of it.

This congressman is a dumbass for putting such a thing in an email sent to constituents. Someone will find a way to use it against him and for 0’s benefit.

Sestak may himself have commited a crime by not reporting an attempt to bribe him to the Fed’s.

Now he is involved in the coverup, anyone who has mislead on this issue or called him to ask him to shutup is also involved in the coverup as well as obstructing justice.

However--- I see a similarity b/w Nixon and Obama: nobody likes him. He's an incompetent, narcissistic boob who's destroying the country and the Democrat party.

Clinton, on the other hand, was actually well-liked. Thanks to the Republican majorities he ended up with a good economy. Thanks to Reagan he had peace, and he was managing to ignore Islamic terrorism. Obama has none of these things going for him.

I'm not saying impeachment will go forward. I'm just saying that the world is much different this time around.

You’re joking. Soo the administration can do what it likes as long as it refuses to appoint someone to investigate it ????

Correct on both points.

we have the same situation brewing here in Colorado, where democratic contender Romanoff was offered a position in the White House administration in leiu of him dropping out of the Senatorial race against governor appointed senator, Michael Bennett. (small case intended)
