Interesting analysis. I always wonder about prophecy, though. If the people in the time of the prophecy can understand it, wouldn’t they change their behavior and thus alter the chain of events? It is compelling, though, so I’ll mark this site for some more reading later.

Individual man may be able to alter their own lives, but God sees all of history as if it's already been played out. He knows what will happen and when it will happen. Sin has to run its course. I wish we could that the knowledge we share and be able to change people like the leaders of Iran, Russia, China, etc, but ultimately they will meet their fate.

Though, I think we can take courage in what happened to Nineveh. They changed after Jonah warned them of their impending destruction and staved off judgment, but eventually God had to judge them accordingly.

Good thoughts though.
