Fla. Gov. Charlie Crists gamble to run as an independent for the U.S Senate seems to be paying off. He narrowly leads Republican Marco Rubio 33%-32.7%, according to Real Clear Politics poll average. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the Democratic front-runner, lags far behind at 17.3%.
Crist is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman. But for that strategy to succeed, hell need Barack Obama and the national party to disown Meek.

Given Obama’s track record of backing candidates lately, it might be more advantageous to Crist if the WH SUPPORTS Meek.
The liberals who are giving Crist the lead will not show up at the ballot.
Crist is clearly making a play for rank and file Democrats. He’ll leave the hard core leftists to Meek.
The rule of thumb is .... if the incumbent is below 50% They will lose the election.
They can not disown Meek he is black. They may force him to withdraw and take a job like...Navy Secretary??
I can tell Chicken Charlie this right now: The Black Community will NEVER disown one of their own. They will stand or fall with Meek. Check this out:
16 percent of Florida’s population is Black. They will go for Meek
21 percent of Florida’s population is Hispanic. They will go for Rubio
That leaves 63 percent of the vote to be divided 3 ways: White DEMS for Meek, White Conservative GOP and Indys for RUBIO, and White RINOS and Idiot Union thugs for CRIST.
I just don’t think the numbers are there for Chicken Charlie to pull it off. Somebody help me out here. Am I nuts? I don’t think an old white guy running against a young Hispanic and young Black man in 2010 can win a 3-way race. Remember two guys who ran against each other; a young Black man named Obama and an old white RINO named McCain? I rest my case.
I continue to see this as a trial balloon for 2012.
The Baraqqis and Soros have to find a third candidate to run for President to get them a Clintonian plurality.
I can’t see Baraq winning any 2 person scenario.
Re: Your Post #8. That’s scary, but, TRUE.
Didn’t the dems already back a party switcher over a party loyalist in PA? How did that work out for them?
Throw another black man under the bus??
jeesh
Given that the Sestak story is finally gaining some legs, they'd have to be pretty brazen to try it right now. Of course, I still wouldn't put i past them, but it'd take some serious chutzpah to try it.
All they have to do is promise Meek the job after the election.
Maybe, but you'd have to be criminally stupid to trust that this pack of bozos would keep their word. I can't imagine anyone buying their routine without something firm in hand, not just a promise for the future.
There is no incumbent here.
