Here is how amazingly stupid Obama and his team really are.
When this oil leak in the gulf first occurred, I told my sweetie “If Obama wasn’t such a self-important putz, he would phone the former gov of Alaska and ask her to oversee the project, given her acumen on this issue.” I also told him I expected to see pigs fly first.
What was my reasoning? Remember, I’m saying this from Obama’s perspective:
First off, it is such a mess, if it can’t be resolved, it would be her fault, essentially neutering her as a competent executive.
But more importantly, if she is operating (as her patriotic duty and nothing more) under the invitation of the President, he would have essentially put a roll of duct tape over her mouth. That means, during this whole pre-election period leading to November, she would have had to keep her powder dry. No traveling to rallies in the lower 48, raising money, giving speeches, endorsing candidates. And no weekly Facebook missives.

Who knows if she would have agreed to it. There are many people in this country that take their patriotism, their duty as citizen seriously enough, that they are willing to put their politics aside, in order to help their nation.
