The White House is seemingly making an increased show of pressuring BP, but President Obama is facing political heat from within his own party for what some say has been a lackluster response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The "political stupidity is unbelievable," Democratic strategist James Carville said on "Good Morning America" today. "The president doesn't get down here in the middle of this. ... I have no idea of why they didn't seize this thing. I have no idea of why their attitude was so hands off here."
On Thursday, Obama will announce new measures the federal government will take to try to prevent any future BP oil spills, administration officials said. And on Friday, the president will visit the Gulf coast, his second trip to the region since the environmental disaster happened last month...
Republican strategist and former Bush administration official Matthew Dowd said the incident is likely to pose a huge political problem, similar to what President Bush faced after Hurricane Katrina.
"I think this incident that happened... is another example to the American public that they can't trust big corporations and they can't trust big government to protect them," Dowd said. "And I think ultimately it's going to be a real political problem."
"In a disaster like this, his [Obama's] numbers should actually be going up, not just staying stagnant, and I think ultimately they're going to drop," Dowd added.

Smart move by The Kenyan to attend a fundraiser this week in San Francisco hosted by the Getty Oil family.
Even Carville admits that the Dear Leader ‘acted stupidly’.
This thread should be pulled. The first already has multiple replies.
” “The president doesn’t get down here in the middle of this. ... I have no idea of why they didn’t seize this thing. I have no idea of why their attitude was so hands off here.”
That’s an easy one. Obama doesn’t want to own this because he knows he lacks the competence to bring it to a swift and positive resolution.
Carville is creating the split to open up a Hillary run for President. Carville always was the bag man for the Clintons.
Carville==Clinton proxy. Remember that Hillary wants Obama’s job, and Clinton allies are very carefully trying to undermine him, so that he will be a one termer, and the Democrat convention will choose her to replace him.
He chose her for State because he wanted her out of the way. But this suited her, as foreign affairs were seen as her weakest area by the public. If nothing else, the Clintons are methodical villains.

... and nobody is a bigger expert on the subject of "political stupidity" than me ...
As you probably know, Tapper is one of the few MSM reporters/commentators that has asked Obama any real questions. Accordingly, the very fact that he is pushing the Carville story is news.
Some have accused Tapper of being the very reason Obama has been banning the press corp from events.
I live and work in Manhattan and was shocked yesterday when a heard a bunch of liberal creative types unload on the Kenyan because of the oil spill. They were really spitting mad over the situation. I just had to laugh.
I mean to address post #10 to you as well...sorry!
the long knives are coming out....o’s friends are turning on him....
Hey dowd... you need to start reading the real polls and not obama’s blast faxes.

I do a daily ping on illegal-immigration threads. I daily list all the threads in the past 24 hours that pertain to that topic. Do you know how many are multiples of the same particular story if not linked to the same article? A whole bunch. So I know how duplicates and such can be an issue.
Let me make a suggestion. In such an instance as this, post a reply to yourself, or “ALL”, on the original thread providing a link to the new article (in this case the Tapper article). That way, those already involved in the discussion have access to it, and we don’t clutter up the forum with duplicate or repeated threads. Just a thought...
Sorry this posting created a problem for you.
I don’t think that is the main reason he’s pissed off. This is his home and his culture. He’s not forgetting the people who died and the people who are seriously struggling with a loss of their livelihood thanks to the incompetent b00b refusing to act to keep the oil offshore. The level of anger he is expressing at the zer0 is what the people of Louisiana are feeling right now. Hillary is nowhere on the radar here.
It’s not the spill it’s the inattention to protecting the environment.
IT’S THE CLEANUP, STUPID.
Who made you the forum posting police? Seriously, this needs to be seen by as many people as possible. zer0 is seriously messing up here and is being called out by his own party.
I am more convinced that Obama will face challenges in the 2012 Democratic presidential primaries and may lose re-nomination.
