That means they’re effectively a form of punishment on people who have yet to be convicted of any crime.
Hitler was not convicted of any crime, either. What a joke this author is.
I trust the police on this one more than I trust the family of the deceased. The g’s father has been implicated in the murder that lead to the raid in the first place...he was with 34 year old career criminal Chauncey Owens when he shot 17 year old Jerean Blake through the heart because he didn’t like the way he looked at him outside of a neighborhood party store.
Not saying a little girl should die because her daddy is a scumbag, but I’m taking everything that comes out of their mouths and the mouth of Geoffrey Fieger with a boulder sized grain of salt.
What an incredibly stupid statement that was.
“Hitler was not convicted of any crime, either. What a joke this author is.” Are you stupid or do you just say stupid things. Is a 7 year old a Hitler to police officers?
SOP
It has been this way for a while, for example, "Let's not pick up Koresh when he goes jogging or out to market, let's storm the house with APCs, guns blazing, and ultimately kill every man, woman and child in there."
And the little girl who was killed, what was she guilty of? Sure the actions of the woman in the house who struggled with the officer contributed to this tragedy, but so did the stage set by the government in the first place in using a paramilitary raid and inviting a reality show camera team along to show the world how tuff the authorities are.
Another problem with flash-bangs is that they are extremely loud and can cause permanent hearing damage. It’s like someone firing a .44 Magnum inches away from your ears with no earplugs.
At the very least, I don't think they would be enthusiastic apologists for such careless and unnecessary police violence...
Any of ya’ll ever been jacked up by “armed police authorities” acting under the “cover of law” in the middle of the night?
I have, and the experience was unforgettable.
No excuses will ever bring that innocent little girl back to life.
Shame to any and all of you who would treat her brutal murder as mere collateral damage.
“Not saying a little girl should die because her daddy is a scumbag, but Im taking everything that comes out of their mouths and the mouth of Geoffrey Fieger with a boulder sized grain of salt.”
It’s alarming to realize there are folks who will attempt to justify the killing of an unarmed and innocent child who was sleeping.
Agree...
Tou have got to be kidding me!
The girl lived in a duplex below were Chauncey Owens was
living.
Here is her FATHERS response,

“I would like to say that y’all killed an innocent child, my only daughter that I will never ever get back,” Charles Jones said. “She was my pride and my joy, that’s what made me happy and I will never be the same man again not without my daughter — y’all ruined my life.”
Aiyana Jones’ father: ‘Y'all ruined my life’
The 34-year-old male suspect was arrested during the search. Charles Jones said the suspect was in the upstairs apartment — not his.

I thought of Waco, too
Personally I take a different route ...I am not anti-police one bit, but everything from the police NEEDS proof as far as I am concerned. A police officer is a human being who has been given tremendous powers so as to be able to accomplish his/her objectives as pertains to law enforcement. The law officer has the ability to detain, seize property, give evidence that can lead to imprisonment, and even take life. Those are great powers, and with such power comes great responsibility. The burden of proof rests with law enforcement (and the judicial arms), and this is why suspects are called so, and why someone is innocent until proven guilty.
In another similar thread some months back (again, a dynamic entry to a wrong house, this time with the usual victims ...a pair of ferocious rabid bred-for-killing labs), a fellow FReeper said that FReepers should give police officers the benefit of a doubt. In that case, just like this one, I disagreed. Police officers should be held to an even higher standards than the normal civilian, because they possess certain powers civilians do not have. Even if the suspect is a bad-to-the-bone gangbanger/hellsangel/Klan/Obamite, they are still innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof rests elsewhere.
As for dynamic entry - they are very important, but they have been taken too far. They are supposed to be used for high-risk high-threat targets that are expected to be armed. There are some cases that fall into that, but most of the dynamic entries are done against targets that simply do not qualify. This raises the danger level considerably ....not just to the suspect and the family, but also to the law enforcement office. For instance, say I am at home watching TV and some officers make a mistake and come to my home (the usual wrong address) and do a dynamic entry. I can almost guarantee I will get one of them, and just as guarantee that they will get me.
Anyways, police officers are very important to the community, but SWAT style dynamic entries should only be used against the sots that require them.
I am, too.
or culling out the troopers that cant handle the pressure...
