My son and I were the only customers eating a late lunch at a mom and pop Italian restaurant one afternoon. The owner and another younger man were seated a few booths away but across the aisle. They were speaking rather heatedly going back and forth between English and Italian.
The older man, who was the owner, kept assuring the younger one he would be fine. “If they don’t got no evidence you was there, they got nothing on you”.
My son and I ate quickly and made a hasty retreat. We have often wondered what cover-up we were witnessing adn wished we had spoken Italian.
This seems like the same sort of thing. Axelrod isn’t denying the offer, but that there is any evidence to support the claim.
so there not say it’s not true, just that there is not evidence to prove it’s true
