The White House attempted to push back against allegations that Barack Obama or his staff attempted to bribe Joe Sestak into withdrawing from the Democratic Senate primary by offering him a job, but they may be creating bigger headaches with their defense. Axelrod tells CNNs John King that there is no evidence that the bribe attempt ever happened, even while he acknowledges that it would have been a serious breach of the law. In order to believe that there is no evidence, though, one has to discount the repeated direct testimony of Sestak himself (via The Daily Caller):
Senior adviser to the president David Axelrod said Monday evening that there is no evidence that White House officials tried to keep a Democratic congressman from entering the Pennsylvania Senate race by offering him a high-ranking government job.
When the allegations were made, they were looked into. And there was no evidence of such a thing, Axelrod said on CNNs John King USA.
Axelrod acknowledged that if White House officials dangled a job in front of Rep. Joe Sestaks face to keep him away from challenging incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter, that would constitute a serious breach of the law.
Axelrod also acknowledged that there were conversations involving White House officials and Sestak, but said that those had been looked at by White House lawyers and their conclusion was that it was perfect the conversations were perfectly appropriate.

I want you people to listen to me,...
moment? The finger will tell.
Just my suspicion this is why Obama isn’t taking any reporters’ questions.
Yeah, who “looked into” it?
However, the Obama administration is the most dishonest adminstration we've ever had, so I'd be willing to bet it isn't Sestak who is lying here.
Don’t worry Eric Holder will prosecute this right after he gets done with the Black Panthers.
Remember those panty waist ex US Attorneys crying they got fired by Bush for “political reasons”? Well now we see what happens when democrats hire them for political reasons.
Exactly. The WH knows it has to tread carefully here—they know they can’t come out and call Sestak a liar, or they’ll risk losing the Senate seat.
On the other hand, if they admit to making the offer, someone will be in serious hot water.
I swear everything the dems do nationally I have witnessed locally in NJ. We had a deputy attormey general here who interfered in a DOT decision for political reasons. When we wrote to the NJ Attorney General we got a letter from the same Deputy AG saying everything was “appropriate”. Wrote back asking that someone else investigate it and they never responded.
I hope Sestak has deep pockets to fund his own campaign.
heh heh
Do NOT wait for the question from the walking dead media...”What did he know, and when did he know it?”
“Axelrod also acknowledged that there were conversations involving White House officials and Sestak, but said that those had been looked at by White House...”
Axelrod also acknowledged that there were conversations involving White House officials and Sestak, but said that those had been “shredded” by White House...”
There....fixed it.
” or maybe no controlling legal authority LOL “
Ask Obama’s Consigliere, Holder.

And the unravelling of a presidency commences.
Yep. If there was nothing to this, they would have said, "This did not happen. Period."
So how does the WH now campaign for the guy they just called a big fat liar? A guy who accused their messiah of criminal conspiracy? What about the DSCC and the DNC? Are they going to bankroll a guy who makes up stories from whole cloth that charges their sitting president with criminal acts?
Toomey can (and must!)be all over this. Anyone who endorses Sestak, holds a fundraiser for him, or donates money should be nailed on it.
Axelrod is basically admitting that there is some truth to it or he would’ve categorically denied it if there was no truth to back up Sestak’s claim. They no doubt have investigated and now have built up the administration’s firewall because the smoke is billowing and the fire is getting hard to contain.
This is a criminal administration’s way of saying, yeah so what if it happened? You can’t prove it because we control the evidence. They can then use the Clinton’s tried and proven method of destroying the character of the accuser and Sestak may need to be destroyed in order to protect the regime. They may already have discounted winning this seat as they could’ve pulled out all stops to save Spector’s sorry ass (even used Rendell’s influence).
It’s highish volume, Nachum, but it’s also really, really good, high quality pings, and more than worth every minute of it. :)
Hmm...let’s see if we have this right. This “Second City” band of thugs didn’t try to force their choice for the open senate seat on Blagg-o, they didn’t announce a federal judgeship for a congressman’s brother on the eve of the Obamacare vote, they didn’t try to strong-arm Sestak, and on and on. Ok, now it’s really clear: they simply don’t engage in behavior. Yeah, right.
This WH is guilty of impeachable offense until they prove it wrong. Nuff said.
