Tonight marks the end of a television era: 24 airs its eighth season finale. The impact of the show on the country has been profound; in the way subjects on the show have been brought into the public spectrum and how Jack Bauer, the protagonist, has become an icon – the man that will do anything to stop evil. While many mourn the loss of Law and Order or Lost, 24 has had a greater impact on America in our post-9/11 era.

When Kim Bauer lost her virginity, Jack found it and put it back.

When life hands Jack Bauer Lemons, he kills Terrorists. Jack Bauer f-ckin’ hates lemonade.

Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he gave up the location of the keys.

A Priest, a Rabbi, and a Minister walked into a bar... and Jack Bauer is going to find out why..

Jack Bauer got Hellen Keller to talk.

If Jack and MacGyver were locked in a room together, Jack would make a bomb out of MacGyver and get out.

Jack Bauer was once shot. The bullet was killed on impact.

I will genuinely miss “24”.

It is my Monday night vice to be glued to it.

Like NASCAR, Indy 500, and the Triple Crown, friends know NOT to call me on Monday nights.

I had been watching it for years but decided to sit out this season. Too much political correctness for me in the previous season, what with their “public service” announcements done by cast members, and having that slut Garofolo on was more than I could take.

I only started watching this last year. I was a satisfactory ending for me. Jack didn’t die. Chloe’s back in charge. Left the audience wanting to see more (the movie) but not in a cliff hanger way.
