Make sure to tell those people it’s “18 USC Sec. 211 - Bribery, Graft and Conflicts of Interest: Acceptance or solicitation to obtain appointive public office”

“shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”

Pretty serious “misdemeanor” for a year in jail.

I'm not a lawyer but, IIRC, the one-year potential jail time is the dividing line between a felony and a misdemeanor. A year or less jail time is the sentence for misdemeanors; over a year is the sentence for felonies.

And I felt an obligation to answer it honestly.

Not realizing that this disqualified him both from the Senate and the Democrat Party.

Sedition, yes. Bribery, no. Not for POTUS impeachment purposes, just for all the lowly peons who work for POTUSes, and never dreamed the day would come when a POTUS actually commits bribery to influence a local election, or suborns perjury over a BJ. All one and the same, though.

I would put that in the category of “High Crimes And Misdemeanors”.

If Obama offered it, he is guilty. That is the bribary. The sedition comes from both.

And Sestak will immediately fall in line and vote the way Pelosi and Obama want him to. Was it Rush or Sean the other day who said that there are no DINO’s. Probably Rush.

Nothing will come of it, folks. You could have a hi-def video of Obama and Sestak face to face, with Obama offering the job, and nothing would come of it. It would probably air only on Fox. The law only applies to Republican politicians. Try to imagine a Republican doing what Sandy Berger did.

Toomey should threaten to call hearings if elected. He needs to keep this in the news and bring it up in debates.

Republicans need to start showing a more combative attitude - run on being a proud member of the "PARTY OF NO". These law breaking Constitution shredding bastards have got to be accountable for their TRANSFORMATION OF AMERICA WITHOUT AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION.

One more thing: We conservatives are placing an awful lot of hope in the November elections, for obvious reasons. But if the batch of incoming Republicans doesn’t have a LOT more spine than the current bunch, don’t expect dramatic change.

“Yeah, he replied. “I was asked that question months after it happened. And I felt an obligation to answer it honestly. I said, ‘yes.’

LIFE FLASHES BEFORE EYES while contemplating the hit being placed on him via Democratic rent-a-thugs

Asked what job, Sestak said: “No, no … and I said at the time, anything beyond that just gets into politics.”

Pat Toomey should put together a TV ad featuring that clip and run it 10 times a day statewide every day until election day. Linda McMahon should do the same thing with that now famous clip of Blumenthal talking about coming home from Vietnam.

“..was asked on CBS’s “Face the Nation” if the Obama administration had offered a position in exchange for his agreeing not to run.

“Yeah, he replied. “I was asked that question months after it happened. And I felt an obligation to answer it honestly. I said, ‘yes.’”

Calling Eric Holder.

Assuming we elect a new congress with guts, ...

Best to recognize reality so it can be dealt with. We will not elect a courageous congress. We will elect a bunch of politicians, no matter what they tell us to get elected.

The good news is that if we, the "enraged" electorate, establish effective channels of communication we can have a significant impact on how they conduct our affairs in the "halls of congress."

I have seen the beginnings of this happen here at home, and am sure it can work across the nation. But it will take work in all 50 states at the federal level and in all counties across the nation at the state level. They do listen when we are insistent enough. Self preservation.

An impeachable offense is anything the relevant (Judiciary?) House committee says it is.

If that should ever happen, the money play is to get long a lot of stock in whatever company manufactures orange jumpsuits.

I have been reminded by many here that this ASSUMES the GOP we elect to take the house has the spine for this.

The problem won't be the elected Republians if history is a guide. GOP won landslides in 1946 and 1994. It did what it campaigned to do in both cases. In both cases two things happened:

1. The Democratic President and his allies in the media demagogued the new majority and won in the minds of the public.

2. Some conservatives turned on the party because it did not do what it was incapable of doing. In the case of Truman that was overturn the New Deal. It could not be done because there was no wide public appetite to dump it all and the judicial revolution of 1937 and other judicial actions had enshrined it in Constitutional Law. In the case of Clinton, the complaint was the GOP should have tossed him out of office (impossible) and done more about Chinagate (Congress has limited police powers, Burton and others did all they could--hold hearings and get people under oath).

The GOP win of 1946 was reversed in 1948 and the '94 election was set back in '96 and almost reversed in '98 because of the above. If the GOP wins Congress, the burden will be on those who voted them in to ensure this doesn't happen again. That can be done by accepting limits on what is possible. The founders designed our system to be gunked up. It takes the sort of supermajority FDR and LBJ enjoyed for radical change ( in the normal course of events, this administration and congress is an exception as they are defying the will of the people). The other thing is countering every attack by the media (which will be relentless...worse than the very successful "Republicans are shutting down the Government at Christmas" and "Republicans are cutting school lunches and medicare to give tax cuts to the rich" campaigns the Democrats launched in 1995.)
