If you believe this please jump out of a jet at speed and get back to us.

It is also 'well known' that all commericial airliners have a 'ramp or ladder' at the rear of the plane that drops down to enable criminals to make a safe exit.

NEVER MIND. My mistake. It turns out the 727 has rear stairs.

The chances of surviving a parachute landing in this kind of wind and not getting seriously hurt of killed is slim to none......

The FBI rigged the chutes. IIRC, one was rigged not to open, the other had it's cords cut. The other two, which worked, were found on the plane.

My guess is that Dan Cooper attached a flare to the money bag, and was planning to use the steerable parachute to follow it down.

I guess the phrase, "don't judge a parachute by it's cover" would have been helpful to Mr. Cooper.

According to the details given by the FBI, it would appear that Dan Cooper, or D.B. Cooper, dropped to the ground like a rock. That's probably why they never found him. He torpedoed right into the ground like a lawn dart dropped from thousands of feet.

Article suggests it was an FBI agent, not Cooper, who visited “Janet” and told her to keep quiet.

Old people?

Not so much as young people, in my experience. Dishonesty is not confined to any particular demographic.

She first told the story in 1971. Could be locked into it by now.

You are correct sir. Everyone forgets all those swirling airflow's around the (heavy) plane. Who knows there may still be a ribcage with a tree inside it.

The chutes were not rigged at all. He was given one training chute that was sewn shut, but that was not done on purpose. He had requested civilian chutes and so the FBI had to get them from a local skydiving school.

Cooper himself cut one chute’s cords so he could use the cords to tie the money bag to himself.

It’s not known if he strapped on the non-functional chute, but it was not left behind.

You’d think that sewn shut chute would have shown up by now.

If you are implying that one wouldn’t survive the jump, three other hijackers did survive jumps from the back stairs of 727’s in flight.

That dosn’t mean Dan Cooper did, of course. Especially if he was dumb enough to strap on a sewn shut chute...
