The only real way to stop it is to drill another well...horizontally enter the well from several directions and plug the well from underneath.
BP should have 5 drilling rigs around that well right now racing to cement that leaking well.
They can directionally drill with pretty good accuracy.
Two relief wells have been under way for a while. They are the ultimate fix. All the other attempts are parallel efforts that might fix it earlier than the time required to complete the relief well.
