Hoping to win more hearts and minds in Afghanistan, the U.S. and its NATO allies are planning a commendation to recognize courageous restraint among troops in the field. According to a NATO statement, the goal would be to celebrate the troops who exhibit extraordinary courage and self-control by not using their weapons.
What an apt metaphor for the Age of Obama. If there is a coherent theme to President Obamas foreign policy, it seems to be constraining and restraining American power.
Consider the New START agreement. From Moscows perspective, New START will constrain the U.S. from building and deploying additional missile defenses. New START, according to the Russian interpretation, will be viable if the United States of America refrains from developing its missile-defense capabilities quantitatively or qualitatively.

Yeah, a medal for courageous restraint.
I guess going AWOL during war time would earn a soldier in Obammie the Commie’s military the CMOH.
when I first heard of this, I thought it was some kind of joke.
I assume most of these will be posthumous awards. Sadly, I can’t add a [/s] here.
If we go down this path, maybe we’ll start handing out medals for Wussiness and just plain Cowardess. Under Obama, it could happen.
Obama stands for unilateral disarmament of the US on a variety of levels.
Obama: an evil, anti-American President
courageous restraint
Before they decapitate????
What a joke.
I never dreamed in my life that I would have to remove the “Worst President” title from Jimmy Carter and give it to someone else. But Obama hates the US ten times more than Carter and he’s ten times more dangerous.
Can you imagine what would have happened if this policy was in place during WWII?
At this point, we ALL deserve medals for courageous restraint. Lord knows we have been baited, taunted, and abused enough by this insanity.
I hope, for their sakes, that NONE of our Troops ever TRY to receive this thing on purpose. Because they will never see it. Their grieving families will.
I do hope that this “courageous restraint” decoration doesn’t clash with the Purple Hearts that will, inevitably, be awarded too.
The new COIN wording: (Counter-Insurgency)
“The idea is consistent with our approach, explained LTC. Tadd Sholtis. young soldiers display courage every day, including situations where they refrain from using lethal force, even at risk to themselves, in order to prevent possible harm to civilians. In some situations our forces face in Afghanistan, that restraint is an act of discipline and courage not much different than those seen in combat actions.
Insanity - the Taliban are loving it.
So, how do you defend yourself, your platoon, and push back an attacking enemy if you can't shoot back?
How do we win this war under obyummer’s new ROE?
We don't.
We, province by province, not only walk away and GIVE the territory BACK to the Taliban - we leave them the bases intact, INCLUDING thousands of gallons of gasoline, boxes and boxes of ammo, rockets and missiles.
And this ammo is already being used against out soldiers.
And none dare call it TREASON?
watch these two clip if you doubt our CIC is on the OTHER SIDE. (bookmark these 2 clips and email to everyone you know. The first if the spin from the WH - the second, the truth in a video they didn't think would be taken - that tells the truth. THIS is what he is doing to our troops...and US.)
the spin. then the truth.

the truth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WamBeYQeRvE
(How about THIS for deal: “We're leaving the valley. One shot from this valley during the pull out, this valley will be turned into a gravel pit. Understood?” (then destroy the base and either take or destroy ammo etc.? Bad enough to hand them the victory of the valley - but they only respect strength - they LAUGH at our tuck-tail pull out - handing them a HUGE victory and the momentum to surge on. And NONE DARE CALL THIS TREASON?”
Watch for the Movie Restrepo - see what our troops went through there -
read the book:
Or the families of those who didn't have 'their back' covered by a soldier who 'restrained'.
If anyone still doubts that we have a CIC whose loyalty is to the other side - I spit on your ignorance.
Case in point: so far, only a dozen posts on this thread - 3 of them mine. But this is more responses than most threads on our troops.
But let the title include “O.J” or “Simpson” or the like and it will be a runway thread with hundreds of posts.
Way to go, Freepers.
I completely share your view of Carter & Obama.
Of course, we should not forget and understate just how bad Carter was. . . a truly awful President . . . maybe even worse as a “Former President”. It is just that Obama is “off the charts” bad. . . incredibly and unbelievably so.
They can pin the “restraint medals” on their flag-draped coffins.
I’m pretty sure that most of our troops use restraint when they can and when it is justified.
I’d be more worried about the guy who thinks he deserves a medal for not wasting a civilian when he had a choice.
CMOR
Amen.
