But Simmons, who hinted in an interview earlier this week that he wouldn't continue the battle for the nomination if he lost at the convention, announced late Friday he would carry the fight into the Aug. 10 primary.
...
But Schiff said that he would take advantage of Connecticut's open primary law and petition his way onto the Aug. 10 primary ballot nonetheless.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Forras.
Will he be on the ballot in August?
August is a long ways away, Palin should wait to see a poll. People figure Schiff is over 10%.
The economic libertarianism is more popular with Republicans / Conservatives.
Another thing to consider is that Palin is not considered popular in New England. Did she endorse Scott Brown? Did she come up to appear with Scott Brown? I recall hearing that Palin’s wasn’t a particularly desired endorsement in New England. But was that the General or the Primary?
That’s very true about Palin likely not being an asset and candidates not necessarily wanting her to come in with an endorsement. CT isn’t as bad as MA or Manhattan, but still her impact could be questionable.
Then again, who’d have thought she’d be so welcome statewide in CA?
It might be a primary vs general thing. Palin has to be popular everywhere among Republicans. Less so in New England, maybe. Maybe Palin is viewed unfavorably by fewer Republicans in California than in New England. Even if it is New England, I would think Schiff would want Palin’s support.
The concern I’d think would be that her primary support would harm the Pubbie position in the general. Schiff needs a hail mary to have a chance, and I suppose that would be Palin.
Yup.
A Palin endorsement would help win the nomination, but in the fall it could hurt with those who dislike Palin.
Because it’s a risky move, a Republican front runner in New England might not want the endorseement. Schiff, who is likely behind in the polls at this time, might want to try it, but I’m not sure it’s quite a hail mary pass.
if everyone wakes up and sees that Schiff is an UBER lib, to the left of Simmons, he most likely will!
The Tea Parties are full of it, I no longer am involved and openly quit my leadership position once I learned of their endorsement of Schiff despite his associations with Kokesh
It’s my understanding that tea parties are fairly neutral on foreign policy matters. Smaller Government is what they’re after.
Eon Paul is what they follow, 90% of them
Sad reality
I don’t know what the tea parties are like in Ct, and it seems that you do. Based on what I’ve heard and my analysis, the Maine GOP Platform is said to be a “tea party” platform, and it appears to me a lot like something written in part by Ron Paul supporters. Much of what Ron Paul favors is favored by most here. Some of what Ron Paul favors is considered kooky or unpatriotic by most here. The parts of the Maine GOP Platform that appear to have been written by Ron Paul supporters are the parts that most here at FR do support. So, because the most disliked parts of Ron Pauls message don’t make the platform, and the most liked parts do make the platform, the ideas and the energy of the Ron Paul people in the tea party are a positive.
It isn’t clear that the tea partiers had much influence at all at the state R convention in CT, the way they did in ME.
Damn, I forgot to predict that the kooky Peter Schiff stalker was going to do his copy/pasty thing on the Forbes’ endorsement thread. I particularly like his “ECON 101” theory relating investments to families. The links are as tenuous as Bush’s relative doing business with Nazis back in WW2, therefore GWB must be a Nazi, eh? I’m guessing the stalker lost a lot of money and is a bitter union worker.
As for McMahon:

True dat.
The tea party is not republican, nor does it represent socially conservative individuals. It’s primary focus is to reduce the size of government and to put pressure on a central bank that is making the dollar look more and more like monopoly money. If ya’ll don’t like it, make up a new grassroots party of your own! :-)
