In the first season of "True Blood", there was a scene that touched me deeply enough that I had to reach for my handkerchief.

It was when Bill Compton told of his last battle in the Civil War and how his friend, an NCO, died trying to rescue a 13 year old wounded boy who was lying on the battlefield. The British actor who plays Compton got the tone right from the first line.

"The Federals has us outnumbered five-to-one, and they had brought in heavy artillery, of which we had none."

It was a true tale of the batlefield, and the writer, actor and director caught it right.
