A reality show fisherman from Oakridge will spend the next 9½ years in state prison for committing three Eugene bank robberies.
Joshua Tel Warner, 23, was sentenced to the lengthy prison term after he pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lane County Circuit Court to three second-degree robbery charges.
Warner pulled off one of the heists at a Washington Mutual Bank on Oct. 19, 2007 before he left Oregon to join the crew of a fishing vessel on Discovery Channels Deadliest Catch, a documentary series about crab fishing in the Bering Sea.
He returned to Lane County after his stint as a deckhand aboard the Wizard and subsequently stole several thousand dollars last year during two robberies of a Pacific Continental Bank branch at 1450 High St.
To me, this is a tragedy, Warners attorney, John Kolego, said during Wednesdays court hearing.
Its a tragedy what hes done to the (bank) tellers, and its a tragedy what hes done to his own life, Kolego said.

Well, maybe he can hook up with Lindsay Lohan while he’s in there.
Jeez!
At first I thought this was about the production company employee who got busted selling drugs.
Don't you think 9 and 1/2 years is enough punishment?
Agree
He shouldn’t be sentanced to 13 STDs as well.
Not surprised he was a whiner but a bank robber? Well, just to show he couldn't pull that one off either.
Stupidity and laziness are a bad combination....
Idiot. He should have had a camera crew film the bank robberies. Then he should have given the money back and told everyone they’d been punk’d. Then he could have sold the whole package as a reality show for millions.
