Democrat Critz Sworn in After Pa. Win:Wait, just how long did it take Dems do this for Scott Brown?

Democrats on Thursday welcomed Mark Critz to their ranks after he dashed Republican hopes of capturing a Pennsylvania House seat seen as a possible bellwether for the midterms.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., swore in Critz after he won a special election to fill the final months of the late Rep. John Murtha's term. The longtime Murtha aide beat Republican Tim Burns on Tuesday. Both candidates will meet again this fall.

"This moment is bittersweet for me," said Critz, recalling his former boss who died in February at age 77 from complications of gallbladder surgery.

Murtha had held the seat for 36 years, but Republicans were counting on opposition to congressional Democrats and tea party-driven discontent to carry them to victory.

Critz stressed his ties to his old boss, who as chairman of a House Appropriations panel steered millions of federal dollars to his district.

Critz benefited from a key endorsement from Murtha's widow, Joyce Murtha, who was on hand for the swearing-in ceremonies.

But did not Critz campaign as though he was Rush Limbaugh? Was not Critz against abortion, against higher taxes, against gun control? The people of the 12th District have 7 months to see whether Critz is for real on these campaign promises. We all know that Democrats lie to get elected.

This was NOT the big deal the media and some Repubs are portraying. Look at stats:

***District is 2 to 1 Dems over Repubs.

***big union effort because of the Senate primary.

***Endorsement of widow got the sympathy vote.

***This guy ran to the right of the Repub. candidate, who, if what I have read is right, the Repub. leadership annointed as a businessman/country cub type.

The real concern here is that the "lesson" learned by Steele and country clubbers is that they must run ever more RINO candidates, and that isn't the right lesson.

“The Libs stop at nothing to destroy us.”

Don’t fault the Democrats for supporting their people.

Fault the Republicans for being impotent and passive.

The Basshole will Loose in November! The DNC and OBOZO spent Millions to try and win this one, Crist Lied and said he was far to the right of Atila the Hun, but the big scandal was RENDELL’S!! He set the special election for the same day as the “CLOSED PRIMARY for the DEMORAT PARTY between SPHINCTER and SESPOOP!” Rendell knew the Reublicans and Independants wouldn’t turn out for the Primaries, annd then Rendell made sure the Demorat Party didn’t turn out the Dead and Illegal Fictious Voters in Philly to guarantee Sphincter would Loose to the Clintoon Machine’s Sespool!

Yes, they'll have that chance, but with this electorate it won't matter if he keeps them or not. What matters to these bums is that he has that "D" after his name. This guy will have that seat for as long as he wants it. That's just the way it is with 'Rats in a 'Rat district in a blue state.

I suspect that you are correct. The Democrats know how to appeal to the voters, especially when it comes to trashing a Republican. The District was configured for a 2 to 1 majority for the Democrats. Plus many folks there can see only as far as what is brought into the district by the congressman. They knew that Murtha stunk, but voted for him anyway.

I still think that Critz can be upended. People know that Democrats lie to get elected; look at Stupak. When push comes to shove the Democrat majority double teams, coerces, threatens, and bribes the congressmen to get the "correct" vote, no matter what they have been saying or promising.
