My old Junior High had a shooting range ...We used to have shooting classes after school and have competitions using 22LR. I think the leftist school apparatchiks collective heads would explode if those things still happened today. As an aside: school violence was nearly nonexistent back then.

The worst thing that happened on our suburban DC campus in the early 60s was that a senior, over 18, drank a beer in the school parking lot during Senior Week. The school threatened to cancel graduation.

Gym class when I was in high school: Compound bows and the targets were pictures of Bambi! No broadheads however.
