Punk singer John Lydon, better known by his Sex Pistols moniker Johnny Rotten, urged fans at a Public Image Ltd., concert in Brooklyn last night to spit on Sarah Palin and what he called "Tea Party chimpanzees."
The group was playing the finale of their first U.S. tour in almost twenty years at the Music Hall of Williamsburg when Lydon was spat on by a fan reliving the early days of punk when spitting on the band was (briefly) considered a sign of support.
According to Spinner, Lydon became angry when a lunger landed on his cheek. A few songs after threatening the spitter he was going to "lacerate your ****ing face" if he spat on him again, Lydon urged his audience to spit on their enemies.
"You only spit on your enemies, and I have never been your enemy. Save it for Sarah Palin and the Tea Party chimpanzees."
Lydon appeared on the Fox News Channel's Red Eye (video here) in April to promote PiL's tour.
Lydon has fronted two of the most influential, groundbreaking bands in modern music. Sadly his politics are caught in the well-trod ground of hate-filled, violence provoking, mindless liberalism.

Lydon apparently does not even have the slightest clue what the punk movement, despite the cred he gets for originating it, actually stood for.

The dumb bunny predictable copy-cat adeolescent punk rockers always struck me as sheep who picked the most conventional ways -- spiked hair, body piercings, heavy black leather -- to scream to the world how unconventional they were.
Nothing much sadder than a fat, middle-aged, washed up punk rocker.

Guess he has no idea mnay of his fans grw up to be tea party patriots? What an @$$ and BTW you try spitting on me and I will take you down. We’ll see what they say when the photos show up of you being beat by a 5’2” woman.
